His contributions to film, television, and theater earned him numerous accolades, cementing his place as one of the most revered talents in the industry. James was married to actress Cecilia Hart for over 30 years, a partnership that shaped much of his personal life.
The couple lived in Manhattan, maintaining a relatively private life away from the Hollywood spotlight. They shared a deep bond, and their son, who was conceived on their wedding night, was born in 1982.

"But my wife feeds me well, [and] I do moderate exercise on the treadmill or the step-up, just to get the heart going," he continued.

Sadly, Cecilia passed away on October 16, 2016, after a battle with ovarian cancer. Her passing marked a profound loss for James, who had relied on her support and companionship throughout his career.
On September 9, 2024, the actor passed away at 93 His death marked the end of an era, leaving behind his son, Flynn Earl Jones.

Flynn Earl Jones
Flynn maintained a close bond with his father, both personally and professionally. He often served as James's assistant, supporting him behind the scenes during his illustrious career

In September 2019, Flynn became engaged to Lorena Monagas, a talented and accomplished storyteller and artist. Lorena took to Instagram to share the sweet details of Flynn's proposal, which occurred at a pumpkin patch.
"I couldn't wait to go pumpkin picking this year, so we went early in the season, and I found a surprise waiting for me 🎃," she captioned the post in part.
Lorena's background is as rich and diverse as her work. She holds an MFA from The Academy for Classical Acting at the Shakespeare Theatre and George Washington University, along with a BFA in Graphic Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Her artistic journey includes training at prestigious institutions such as Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, Massachusetts, The William Esper Studio, and The Barrow Group in New York City. She has also studied at Casa Cruz de la Luna in San Germán, Puerto Rico.
Lorena's experience spans film, multimedia, and voice-over projects, making her a multi-disciplinary artist who understands the power of narrative—something that Flynn, too, finds himself at the center of lately.
